After graduating from Old Dominion University in International Affairs and Conflict Resolution, Hiwa went on to launch his career in the Federal Government space working with Carahsoft Technology Corp. where he dealt with government procurement and federal IT consulting as a principal vendor to the State Department. In this role, Hiwa exerted high attention to detail and a caring concern for his clients; Hiwa decided to apply this same mentality and skillset to a career in Real Estate.
Hiwa migrated to the United States in the 90s to find refuge from war-torn Northern Iraq. He settled in Arlington, VA in 1997 and has been a proud local ever since. As a refugee to the United States, Hiwa has always felt strongly about homeownership as the cornerstone of the American Dream. One of the major drivers that led him into Real Estate was helping his family achieve this American Dream.
Due to his background, Hiwa believes firmly in giving back: in May 2017 and October 2019 he organized a fundraiser and personally delivered emergency aid to various refugee camps in Iraq to assist those affected by the ISIS crisis. This has been his passion project and he will continue this effort moving forward with proceeds from his real estate transactions. Hiwa is licensed in VA and DC.
Fun facts, Hiwa loves to DJ, he plays locally on U ST NW, and loves cooking traditional dishes that stem from his Kurdish culture.”
